Text Box: The 7th Annual NEPA Lawnmower Racing Association Awards Banquet was held on Saturday, October 13th at the Black Walnut American Legion. A great crowd was on hand to support the drivers receiving awards. After a hearty meal, everyone was treated to the premiere of “2007 Rewind”, a video production of the highlights of the season. Then it was trophy time! In the Singles Class, Joe Matier was crowned champion. 2nd—Mike Downs, 3rd—Zach Cragle, 4th—Dusty Hunter & 5th—Brett Gray. Bruce Johnson brought home the big one in the Twin Class. 2nd—Josh Vanderpool, 3rd—Jack Rieman, 4th—Alex Kipar, & 5th—Jesse Milliron. Jeremy Saylor walked away with the Expert Class Championship. 2nd—Jason Jones, 3rd—Josh Vanderpool, 4th—Fred Gardner, & 5th—Jeremy Williams. In the Open Class, Jason Jones edged out Jeremy Saylor for the top spot after Saylor dropped his worst points race and landing him in a close 2nd. 3rd—Bruce Johnson, 4th—Alex Kipar, 5th—Zach Cragle, 6th—Jeremy Williams, & 7th—Jeremy Johnson. Special Awards were presented as follows: Most Improved Driver—Mike Downs, Rookie of the Year (Singles Class) - Zach Cragle, Rookie of the Year (Twin Class) - Jack Rieman, Tough Luck Award—Jesse Milliron, Most Feature Wins—Jeremy Saylor, Most Heat Wins—Jason Jones, Sportsman of the Year—Jesse Miliron, Driver of the Year—Bruce Johnson. We couldn’t end the night without picking on a few of our racers… Zach Cragle received a special awards for “The Most Spin-Outs”. Larry Lanning & Mark Downs received a special plaque for “The Worst Place to Be At” (don’t even ask!). Joe & Mary Matier were presented their crowns as the new King & Queen. Joe was also passed the crying towel, as he will be taking over the club next season. Special thanks to everyone who helped make the 2007 season a success—especially the staff, the Black Walnut Legion, Tunkhannock Lions Club and the Laceyville Ambulance. After a very nice donation presentation by the Lions Club—it was onto the dance floor with music by DJ Wade Brewer. A fun time was had by all!!!
